Our Chapter
PSU’s downtown location provides our chapter with direct access to leading local, regional and national accounting firms. We offer accounting students the opportunity to network with their peers and accounting professionals, which is an important step in launching a career in the field.
Our Members
Our members have earned their membership by demonstrating their interest and enthusiasm toward profession in the field of accounting and personal development. They are students majoring in Accounting, Finance, and/or Information Systems in Portland State University with Junior Standing or higher and have 3.0 GPA or higher. The detailed membership requirements can be found in the membership page.
Our Activities
The chapter activities include:
1. Regular Meeting
2. Networking Events
3. Professional Events
4. Service Events
Regular meetings provide students with exposure to a wide variety of accounting careers including tax, audit, financial reporting and governmental/not-for-profit, as well as soft skills development workshops. Meetings typically have invited guest speakers from the accounting firms who present the topic and are open to answer a wide variety of questions from students. Meetings are typically once a week during the term.
Networking Events provide students the chance to network with peers, professionals practicing accounting, and recruiters. Our two biggest networking events are Meet the Firms and Spring Dessert.
Professional Events provide students the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge about “soft skills” critical to success in the job search process and an accounting career. Examples of professional events are Etiquette Luncheon, Mock Interview, and Resume Critique.
Service Events are an opportunity for our chapter to give back to the community by volunteering our time. Most of our service events are partnered with accounting professionals
Non member/pledge are welcomed to participate at all our activities (admission and other fees may apply in some events/services)
